Independent, inspector-ready duct blaster and blower door testing for Valley builders, HVAC contractors, and homeowners. RESNET HERS ID 6006075 · BPI ID 5070227.
A duct leakage test measures how much air escapes from a home's duct system under controlled pressure. We seal off the registers, connect a calibrated duct testing fan to the system, and pressurize the ducts to 25 Pascals. The result is a documented number your inspector can check against the code limit. In Phoenix, where ducts often run through a hot attic, leaky ducts mean cooled air is wasted before it ever reaches the room.
Code and inspection: Arizona has no single statewide residential energy code. Each city and county adopts its own IECC edition, so limits and requirements depend on the jurisdiction and permit date. Many Valley jurisdictions need signed duct tightness and blower door results before final inspection. Confirm the requirement with the building department for your job address.
Energy Star and HERS: Duct leakage results feed into HERS ratings and Energy Star program documentation.
Everyone benefits: Builders and HVAC contractors need passing paperwork to close out a permit. Homeowners get a measured answer on whether the duct system is performing.

We use a Retrotec Model 340 DucTester for duct leakage and a Retrotec Model 5000 blower door for envelope testing (reported in CFM50 and ACH50). If both tests are due, we can often do them in the same trip.
Send us the job address, on-site contact, master permit number, test type, and preferred date, and we'll work out scheduling with you. You get signed results for your inspector. We're independent third-party testers: we aren't the installing HVAC crew or the builder's employee, so the paperwork stays clean and repairs stay with your preferred contractor.

1. What is a duct blaster test? It's a duct leakage test. A calibrated fan pressurizes the duct system, and we measure how much air leaks out, in CFM25.
2. Is a blower door test required for new homes in Phoenix? Often, yes, under the IECC edition the city has adopted. Limits vary by jurisdiction and permit date, so confirm with the building department. We provide the testing and signed results inspectors expect.
3. Can you do the blower door and duct tests in one visit? Yes. When both are due and the home is ready, we can often complete both in the same trip.
4. How much does testing cost? It depends on the job: blower door, duct leakage, or both, and a single home versus community volume. Call or text 520-270-1196 for a quote.
